Greve De Lecq Cliff Stabilisation

Description:

The work to stabilise the cliff face at Greve de Lecq started in October 2011 and a controlled explosion to level out the cliff and remove unstable areas was carried out in November 2012. The explosion was followed by the installation of secure metal mesh with workers using rope access techniques to install rockfall protective netting using rock dowels. These dowels between two and eight metres long connect loose areas of the rockfall protection netting into the solid rock behind.

Prior to commencement of work, overhanging rock was putting boats parked near the pier at risk from rocks fulling from the cliff. Geomarine's project to stabilise the cliff rquired the removal of this dangerous section before the installation of the mesh.

The project will be finished in April, in time for the pier to be reopened for the Summer.
