Mary Street HDD

Description:

As part of the works for sewer upgrades following the construction of a new self-contained hotel block a new surface water connection was required to be installed.  Mary  Street is commonly used as a ‘rat-run’ for traffic and therefore it would not have been possible to shut the road for a long period of time to install over 100m of drainage.

A trenchless solution was determined to be the best option and Geomarine working with a specialist sub-contractor designed and built a trenchless installed pipe using Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD).  This tied in with some traditional open cut methods at each end installed the pipeline with less impact on the local residents.
