Alderney's Commercial quay is the island’s lifeline, receiving everything from food to fuel, building materials and vehicles, as well as providing essential berthing for passenger ferries. Without it, islanders would struggle to survive, which is why this vital part of Braye harbour is undergoing a multimillion pound refurbishment.
A popular piece of public art on Jersey's Waterfront has been recognised by judges at a prestigious national award ceremony in London.
Richard Sutton joined Geomarine in April this year as a Geotechnical and Environmental Engineer. He studied Earth Sciences before going on the work in geology and land contamination assessment with design and project management and is currently finishing a master’s degree in Pollution and Contamination Management.
Alderney’s long-overdue sewer and sea outfall upgrade is being constructed by Geomarine. The company is installing a concrete pipe which is more than twice the diameter of the original sewer and nearly a kilometre long. Prefabricated Pipex plastic manholes will provide a maintenance-free, durable system.
