St Aubins Harbour Project Successfuly Completed

The challenging project for the stabilisation of St Aubin's Harbour has been successfully compleated using an inovative method of mini-piling.

Elements of St Aubin’s harbour are 200-300 years old and required stabilisation. Traditional solutions were negated by the historical importance of the structures, general marine conditions, local sensitivities and the presence of a rare mollusc.

A discrete, flexible and low vibration solution was required. Geomarine installed approximately 175 ‘Cintec’ anchors. These are a drilled mini-pile, less 4 inches in diameter. They have been used on historical monuments throughout the world but never before in the Channel Islands.

At project completion over 2 kilometres of these mini-piles had been installed using Geomarine’s own equipment and directly employed local labour.
